Facing the White House Press Corps One Last Time

(Richard A. Bloom)

February 11, 2011

White House press secretaries come and go, but all leave a legacy for those who follow and a lasting impression on journalists with whom they spar in daily briefings.

Robert Gibbs was no exception as he departed as press secretary on Friday. Below are scenes from his final conference.

“Robert has not only been an extraordinary press secretary, but he has been a great friend,” Obama said. “You couldn’t ask for anybody better in the foxhole with you.” Everybody at the White House, he added, “loves Robert … I don’t think we could have a better press secretary.” (Photo by Richard A.
