Energy Edge

The Gulf Between Boehner and Biofuels: Energy Edge - Brought to you by Chevron

December 4, 2013

The Gulf Between Boehner and Biofuels

House Speaker John Boehner took to the floor today to tout all the progress the House has made this year on a host of issues, and at the top of his list was energy.

Indeed, Boehner talks a lot about energy because it's one of the few issues that his party is universally unified on. One energy policy Boehner won't touch with a 10-foot pole any time soon is the renewable-fuel standard, which divides his caucus (and the Democratic Party too, for that matter) along so many lines it's going to take a Herculean effort to get every member in the same book, let alone on the same page, when it comes to this contentious biofuels mandate.

You can get a glimpse of all those lines at EPA's public hearing tomorrow on its proposed RFS rule for 2014.
