The Taliban released a video this week featuring a military dog the group says it captured during a fight with U.S. forces.

In the video, the dog is surrounded by a handful of men displaying rifles and other weapons. A Taliban-affiliated Twitter account said the dog and equipment were taken during a fight in the Alingar District in western Afghanistan.

Lt. Col. Will Griffin, a spokesperson for the international military coalition in the country, told The Washington Post that they lost a dog in December.

Zabiullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban, said the dog "was of high significance" to U.S. forces.

The dog wags its tail during the video and runs around. As The Post notes, it "appears more confused than terrified."

It is believed to be the first time a military dog has been taken captive.
