Pawlenty Inches Bachmann in Fundraising Race

Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann are keeping their rivalry alive. Both Republican presidential hopefuls' second quarter fundraising totals were leaked Thursday night. The New York Times's Nicholas Confessore is reporting that Pawlenty will report raising $4.5 million for his Republican nomination campaign to the FEC, according to an aide. The former governor has spent "about $2.45 million" and has $1.4 million set aside for the primaries and another $600,000 for a presidential campaign. CBS News' Norah O'Donnell tweeted that Michele Bachmann raised an additional $2 million dollars for her campaign over the last two and half weeks, bringing her overall total up to $4 million. Politico's Maggie Haberman weighed in, saying "it's not an overwhelming figure, and is well less than Mitt Romney, but it's half of what many of the other contenders raised in four times the same amount of time." Bachmann only declared she was running three weeks ago. Pawlenty, however, announced his candidacy at the end of May.
