Poll: Greene Jumps Ahead Of Meek

The Florida Senate race has taken another surprising turn. A Quinnipiac University poll released today shows self-funded millionaire Democrat Jeff Greene is now leading Rep. Kendrick Meek, 33 percent to 22 percent, with less than a month before the Aug. 24 primary. In the last Quinnipiac poll, released June 10, they were roughly tied, with 29 percent going for Meek and 27 percent for Greene, who has since poured millions into advertising. The poll did not release numbers on how either Democrat would fare against independent Gov. Charlie Crist or Republican Marco Rubio in the general Senate race. The survey, conducted from July 22 to 27, was based on responses from 782 Democratic likely primary voters, with a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
