ECONOMIC EXPERTISE. Ryan McCormick is the new counsel and legislative assistant for economic policy for Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn. McCormick has worked as a tax attorney at Miller & Chevalier Chartered; a research assistant for the Senate Finance Committee; a legislative assistant for Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and a policy analyst for former Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla., and was a Fulbright Scholar in West Africa. He has an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in international economics from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques, and a law degree from the University of Texas. While at Georgetown, McCormick interned for the Senate Judiciary Committee under Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del.
SWITCHING OVER. Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, has hired Mike Rosen as his communications director. He has been the state political reporter for KTBC, the Fox affiliate in Austin, working at the station for 13 years. Rosen says he has known McCaul since he first ran in 2004 and he was “bit by the political bug” and became interested in moving to the political arena. Rosen has also worked at KAMR in Amarillo and for an NPR station in Houston. He is a graduate of the University of Houston. Rosen replaces Jack Hirschfield.
WAKE UP. David Ward is moving over to the office of Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., as the deputy press secretary. He has been the press secretary for Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, and also has worked for Rep. Virginia Foxx, R-N.C. Ward is a graduate of Wake Forest University. Meanwhile, Mark Williams, former deputy press secretary for Burr’s personal office will be the press secretary for the Republican staff on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He is also a graduate of Wake Forest.
