Woman Believed To Be 'D.C. Madam' Kills Herself, Police Say
People. Police say a woman they believe to be convicted Washington escort service operator Deborah Jeane Palfrey has committed suicide, the Associated Press reported. Police in Tarpon Springs, Fla., say the body was found in a shed near Palfrey's mother's home this morning. There was a suicide note, but police did not disclose its contents. Palfrey was convicted April 15 by a federal jury of running a prostitution service that catered to members of Washington's political elite, include Sen. David Vitter, R-La. She had denied her escort service engaged in prostitution.
