Van Hollen Treks To WV For 2nd District Race

Tue. May 13, 2008

In a sign that Democrats may seriously contest the seat of Republican Rep. Shelley Moore Capito in West Virginia's 2nd District, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen of Maryland trekked to the district Monday to campaign with Democrat Anne Barth.

Barth, a former staffer for Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., is in a three-way primary today against attorney Thornton Cooper and former South Charleston Mayor Richie Robb.

A DCCC official said the committee is very high on the race given that Barth has already made the Red to Blue program despite having a primary.
