N.Y. Republican Leaders Pick Candidate For Reynolds' Seat
Businessman Christopher Lee emerged Monday as the Republican Party leaders' pick to fill the seat Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-N.Y., will vacate, the Buffalo News reported.
"This ends the process," Wyoming County Republican Chairman Gordon Brown said. "Christopher J. Lee has the full support of all the chairmen. We found him just to be an outstanding candidate among a field of outstanding candidates."
It is unclear whether Talking Phone Book President Rick Lewis, who sought support of party leaders, will challenge Lee.
Lewis has said he does not relish a primary contest, but was not afraid of one.
He was able to secure the backing of Erie County Conservative Party Chairman Ralph Lorigo.
On the Democratic side, Jonathan Powers made it a sweep of endorsements by winning the official backing of Erie County Chairman Leonard Lenihan. He will face businessman Jack Davis and Amherst environmental attorney Alice Kryzan in the primary.
