Ozinga Not Interested In Being A Self-Funder
Concrete company owner Marty Ozinga said he is not interested in spending lots of his own money to win the seat of retiring Rep. Jerry Weller, R-Ill., the Associated Press reported.
Ozinga is viewed as the leading candidate to replace the GOP nominee on the ballot when Republicans meet today. He says he does not believe in being a self-funder.
He is counting on financial support from the community to fuel his bid. Ozinga says he does not plan to spend any significant amount of money, probably not close to $350,000.
Pizza restaurant chain owner Harry Bond is also seeking the GOP nod.
The winner will face Democratic state Sen. Debbie Halvorson.
