Firms Begin Offering Faster Airport Screening

The race is on among private companies to revive a long-defunct service that would give airline passengers -- especially frequent flyers -- faster processing through airport security lines.

Hagen's Recess Appointment Cheered

House Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association Friday praised President Obama's recess appointment of Elisabeth Hagen as Agriculture undersecretary for food safety. The White House announced Thursday that he would give Hagen a recess appointment rather than wait for the Senate to confirm her.

DSCC Planning Ads For Carnahan, Conway

The DSCC has reserved air time in October for Kentucky and Missouri Senate races, according to National Journal's Hotline On Call. The committee is planning to spend $4 million in Missouri for a statewide broadcast ad and $1.3 million in Kentucky for a statewide ad campaign.
