Even as the news has focused on the death of Osama bin Laden, newly-elected Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., says Democrats in Congress have remained “laser-focused on the economy.”
Appearing Friday on Fox and Friends, the Florida congresswoman said members have been working with President Obama on “creating jobs and turning the economy around—that’s where we’ve been in terms of our agenda.”
Asked about soaring gas prices, Wasserman Schultz said Democrats aren’t the culprits.
“We’re still giving ridiculous, unacceptable subsidies to oil companies and massive tax breaks that even they have said they don’t need,” she said. “Why the Republican Congress has not voted to end those is just beyond me. That’s the first step that we need to take.”
