Rep. Charles Rangel, 81, has been hospitalized because of back problems, though the issue is not “serious,” said the New York Democrat’s spokeswoman Hannah Kim.
His hospitalization was first reported by Politico.
Kim said she could not confirm if Rangel had been released from the hospital, but she said, “It’s nothing serious and he’s fine.”
Rangel, who has been in the House for four decades, linked to a video of himself dancing on Twitter only a week ago, writing, “I still got the dance moves!”
Rangel is running for reelection this year, after he was censured by the House in late 2010 after an ethics inquiry.
