Republican and Democratic leaders scheduled a bipartisan congressional prayer service for Wednesday to pray for the victims of the weekend shooting in Arizona.

In a letter to House members, Speaker John Boehner and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi invited lawmakers to attend an hour-long bipartisan service at the Capitol Visitor Center on Wednesday afternoon.

"As we attempt to comprehend this horrible event, it is important for members of Congress to gather together and pray for the health of our colleague, Representative Gabrielle Giffords, those who perished, and the other innocent victims who are still fighting for their lives," the letter reads.
