The House on Thursday in a 417 to 2 vote passed the STOCK Act to bar lawmakers from trading stocks based on nonpublic information.
Differences must now be worked out with the Senate-passed version in conference. The House version stripped a “political intelligence” provision, and added language that would bar lawmakers from getting special early access to initial stock offerings.
The House voted on the legislation under procedural rules preventing lawmakers from amending the bill.
