Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., arrived in North Carolina on Monday for therapy as part of her recovery from a gunshot wound to the head. Giffords will be in Asheville, N.C., until Nov. 4, according to a statement from her office.
Giffords was shot in a supermarket parking lot in Tuscon, Ariz., on Jan. 8. Jared Loughner, 23, has been charged with shooting Giffords and 18 others – killing six and wounding 13, including Giffords – but has pleaded not guilty.
Giffords has returned to Washington, D.C., twice since the incident: Once to cast her vote in favor of raising the debt ceiling, and once in early October for a retirement ceremony honoring her husband, Mark Kelly, at the White House.
