Former Senator McGovern Hospitalized for Fatigue

Former Democratic senator and presidential candidate George McGovern was admitted to a South Dakota hospital on Tuesday suffering from fatigue, the Associated Press reports.

The 89-year-old was admitted to a Sioux Falls hospital after completing a lecture tour. A hospital spokeswoman told AP that doctors expect McGovern to make a full recovery and to be released in a couple of days.

McGovern was elected to his South Dakota Senate seat three times, beginning in 1962, and ran for president three times, including as the Democratic nominee in 1972, when he lost in a landslide to President Nixon.
