Boehner's Golf Game Disrupted by Protesters

October 18, 2011

House Speaker John Boehner's golf game on Tuesday was disrupted by about 40 left-leaning protesters from the Courage Campaign, including one who was able to approach the speaker, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Boehner, in Newport Beach, Calif., for the Orange County GOP's annual Reagan Cup golf tournament, was approached in the clubhouse by a protester who pretended to have a tee time. The protester tapped Boehner on the shoulder, who apparently turned and smiled. Then the protester identified himself as being with the Courage Campaign, and Boehner walked away, according to the Times.

The protesters also drummed and shouted—using bullhorns—on a street next to the golf course.
