In a news conference soon after President Obama's, House Speaker John Boehner said on Friday that the breakdown of negotiations over the debt ceiling between the White House and his caucus happened after the president "moved the goal posts" and would not budge on the issue of raising taxes.

Boehner said the $800 billion agreement with the president broke down after Obama would not take $400 billion in revenue-raising measures off the table.

"I took the same oath of office as the president of the United States. I've got the same responsibilities as the president of the United States," Boehner said.
