Boehner Backs Payroll Compromise

Calls it an "economic relief package" needed because Obama policies have failed.

House Speaker John Boehner added his endorsement to the payroll-tax extension that House and Senate conferees agreed to late on Wednesday night. 

He lamented that the measure is necessary because of what he called the failure of the Obama administration's economic policies. The speaker described the president as "checked out" and on "one campaign trip after another." Boehner encouraged the White House to press Senate Democrats to take up jobs measures that have cleared the House.
