Former Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern has moved into hospice care near his home in South Dakota, the state he once represented in the Senate, the Associated Press reports. Without elaborating, McGovern's daughter, Ann, told the AP that McGovern "is coming to the end of his life."

McGovern, who is 90, was a member of the House of Representatives from 1957 to 1961 and a senator from 1963 until 1981. He was the Democratic nominee for president in 1972, losing to Republican incumbent Richard Nixon.
