President Obama's vaunted, data-driven targeting machine may have misfired in a Facebook appeal to Matt Lira, the deputy digital director of Mitt Romney's presidential campaign.
The message is part of an ongoing ad campaign by the Obama team that offers users a link to see how Facebook users who share their own first name have voted, and it asks users to share the link with contacts in "crucial battleground states" to see where to vote and, presumably, turn out for the Democratic ticket. The ads don't come automatically--users opt to share their social networks with the Obama campaign.
