Zynga, Inc., the games company that makes social games such as FarmVille and Mafia Wars, is getting into the influence game. Zynga plans to lobby on gaming, Internet gambling, and online privacy, according to a disclosure filed with the House and the Senate.
Jeffrey Peck and Justin McCarthy of Peck, Madigan, Jones & Stewart have been hired to lobby for Zynga in Washington. Peck was formerly majority staff director for the Senate Judiciary Committee. McCarthy served as a legislative lobbyist for the administration of former President George W. Bush.
Zynga also has hired Alix Burns of Bay Bridge Strategies. Burns was a finance director with former Vice President Al Gore's presidential campaign. Both firms are part of the Tiber Creek Group, according to a blog post from the Sunlight Foundation, which first reported the news.
