Today's Influence Ads: Microsoft Blasts Google Shopping Results Ads

Microsoft has a spirited message for holiday shoppers this year: "Don't get Scroogled."

The ad blasts Google for displaying paid ads in the search engine's "Shopping" results. It also advertises Microsft's search engine, Bing.

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget has two new ads out today, one of which highlights that 300,000 Americans have signed an open letter asking Congress to fix the debt. The other highlights the breadth of individuals who support their cause.

Janssen Biotech has an ad warning about prostate cancer tumors that can fuel themselves, and in another new ad, the U.S. International Council on Disabilities called on Congress to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. MAC Cosmetics put out a new ad Saturday declaring every day World Aids Day, and Citizens for Equitable PEACE had a new ad urging the U.S. and the U.K. to respect China's claim to the Diaoyu Islands.

Those with returning ads, per Kantar Media's Washington Eye, include: the American Bankers Association, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Goldman Sachs, Kaiser Permanente, Lockheed Martin, McDonald's, Whirlpool and WTOP-Radio.
