Today's Influence Ads: A Christmas Wish List For Congress
An array of advertisers called on Congress to fulfill their holiday wishes in nine new ads Wednesday.
The AARP, for one, would like Congress to maintain Medicaid provider assessments. The Aerospace Industries Association wants an end to sequestration, and JetBlue wants the Supplemental Disaster Assistance Bill to help its efforts to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns would like a plan to end gun violence, and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation would like an end to the conflict in the Congo.
In other new ads, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee mourned the late Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority thanked its riders for their patience with its rebuilding program. The National Association of Manufacturers continued a series of ads highlighting jobs created by manufacturing, and the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States cautioned moderation during the holiday season.
Those with continuing ads, per Kantar Media's Washington Eye, include AARP, the American Healthcare Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, BP, Global Security Newswire, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the National Association of Realtors and WTOP-Radio.
