'Lincoln' Cast and Crew Visit Capitol For Special Screening

This fiscal cliff chatter sure is getting tiresome. So senators likely welcomed a bipartisan break to enjoy a screening of Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” in the Capitol Visitor Center tonight.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid escorted Spielberg, Daniel Day-Lewis and other cast members from the Capitol to the CVC. They paused to talk to reporters, where Reid gave a rave review of the film and Spielberg said it was a “great honor” to get the invite to screen it and “see both sides sitting in the room and watch a president who put the people in front of the abyss."

Then Reid and the "Lincoln" cast and crew members passed through the Capitol Rotunda where preparations are underway for Sen. Daniel Inouye to lie in state tomorrow. They all paused to gather around the catafalque where Inouye's casket will rest. Presumably there was mention made about how this platform was hastily constructed for President Lincoln's casket and has been used for every person who has lain in state since.
