Today's Influence Ads: Different Groups, Same Message—Don't Cut Spending

As spending cuts loom, a host of advocacy groups have taken to print advertising to fight for their funding.

The American Diabetes Association and the Family Business Estate Tax Coalition both called on Congress Thursday to protect their share of federal spending.

Several groups, including the Advanced Medical Technology Association and the Medical Device Manufacturers Association, went in on an ad advocating for repeal of the medical device tax that would take effect on Jan. 1. CEOs from the groups are in town today to lobby lawmakers on repeal.

The Pew Environment Group has a new ad up pushing for the passage of unfinished wilderness bills that would protect 2 million acres of land across the country.

Citizens for Strength and Security Fund, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, the Communications Workers of America, the Society for Human Resource Management and the University of Phoenix are also out with new ads today.

Those with continuing ads, per Kantar Media's Washington Eye, include the AARP, America's Natural Gas Alliance, the American Bankers Association, the American Cancer Society, the American College of Radiology, the American Diabetes Association, the American Petroleum Institute, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Association of American Railroads, Boeing, BP, Business Roundtable, CIT Group, Coalition for US-Russia Trade, Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, CTIA, the Delegation of the European Union to the USA, Economy in Crisis, Goldman Sachs, Hologic, the League of Conservation Voters, Lockheed Martin, McDonald's, Neustar, Research!America, and WTOP-Radio.
