Today's Influence Ads: CEOs to D.C.: Avert the Cliff

Congress ignores the fiscal cliff at its own peril and has to act now.

That's the message that CEO members of Business Roundtable, including GE's Jeffrey Immelt and Xerox's Ursula Burns, are sending in the group's latest print ad today.

Congress and the president should not cut a last-minute deal to slash entitlement payments, according to AARP's latest ad, and the American Health Care Association asks, "Who cares if Medicaid and Medicare are cut?" The question is superimposed over a woman's face and letters that spell "I care" are bolded.

Other ads out today, according to Kantar Media, include: American Petroleum Institute, Association of American Medical Colleges, Boeing, Council of Fashion Designers, Delta, Economy in Crisis, Invest in France and French Patent Trademark Office, Military Coalition, Nasdaq OMX Group, Research America and Whirlpool.

Groups with continuing ads include: America's Natural Gas Alliance, American Bankers Association, American Cancer Society, Association of American Railroads, Boeing, CIT Group, Committee for Responsible Federal Budget (four ads), Goldman Sachs, Huawei, Kaiser Permanente, Lockheed Martin, McDonald's, National Restaurant Association, Nuclear Energy Insitute, Raytheon, Siemens, United Healthcare, United Technologies, WTOP.
