As
expected, Rep.
Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania has declared that he's running for chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Shuster is likely to take over for Rep. John Mica of Florida, who was the top Republican on the committee from 2007 to 2010 and is the current chairman.
Shuster has been on the committee for 11 years and is the current chairman of the subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines & Hazardous Materials.
"Transportation is essential to our economy and our future. I am focused on continuing to work together to promote competitiveness and economic growth, reform programs, focus our resources where they are needed most, and better manage our Federal assets," Shuster said in a statement.
