Louie Gohmert Wants Newt Gingrich to Serve as Speaker

So here's a fun little thing that happened today: Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert nominated former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to serve as the 113th Congress' House speaker.

His nomination wasn't seconded, my colleague Billy House reports.

Current House Speaker John Boehner won the nomination by voice vote -- the full House will vote for speaker in January -- so no dice for Gingrich to take up his former post. And in case you're wondering, you don't have to technically serve in Congress to serve as speaker.
