Chris Frates On Power, People And Influence From Capitol Hill To K Street

Capitol Christmas Tree En Route to D.C.

We know, we know -- no Christmas music or decorations until after Thanksgiving (or at least until after Election Day). But with the long lines and election year fatigue, it helps to keep this in mind: the holidays are just around the corner, and the Capitol Christmas tree is on its way to Washington.

"The People's Tree," a 73-foot Engelmann Spruce, was cut down Friday in Colorado's White River National Forest. The U.S. Forest Service is supervising the tour, with the tree being displayed in various Colorado towns this week, and in Texas and New Mexico next week.

The tree arrives at the Capitol on Nov. 26. The Diesel Technology Forum, sponsor of the tree tour, will be posting updates on Twitter and Facebook of the tree's trip out east.
