Boehner Taps New Energy Aide

Maryam Brown, chief counsel for the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power, will be House Speaker John Boehner’s top energy aide.

The announcement is expected to be made imminently from the speaker’s office. Brown replaces Mike Catanzaro, who now does consulting work for FTI Consulting.

Brown was a key staffer behind the legislation pushed by Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield, R-Ky., to curtail the Environmental Protection Agency regulations. She was also instrumental in the House Republicans’ successful effort to get President Obama to reject, on political grounds, the Keystone XL pipeline.
