9 GOP Lawmakers and Rangel to Boehner: Preserve AMT 'Fix'

House Speaker John Boehner should make an extension of the Alternative Minimum Tax "fix" a top priority during fiscal cliff negotiations.

That's according to a letter sent today to Boehner signed by 10 House members—9 Republicans and New York Democrat Charlie Rangel

"Congress must address the AMT extension to prevent a catastrophic tax hike," the lawmakers wrote. The legislators said that their states, California, New Jersey and New York, would be "most impacted" if the tax went up.

The signers were: Peter King, R-N.Y., Scott Garrett, R-N.J., Jon Runyan, R-N.J., Leonard Lance, R-N.J., Chris Smith, R-N.J., Rodney Frelinghuysen, R-N.J., Tom McClintock, R-Calif., Gary Miller, R-Calif., Frank LoBiondo, R-N.J. and Rangel.
