VoteVets Infuses Money Into Iowa, N.D., Ill. Races

Liberal-leaning VoteVets Action Fund is infusing $200,000 worth of radio ads and direct mailers in Iowa, North Dakota and Illinois. Here's the breakdown:

-- Iowa: a $62,000 radio buy for an ad promoting Democrat Rep. Dave Loebsack's record on veterans' issues, complete with an Iowa City Iraq and Afghanistan veteran vouching for the incumbent. Loebsack is facing Republican challenger John Archer.

-- North Dakota: a $75,000 direct mailing in support of Democratic Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp, while taking aim at Republican Rep. Rick Berg in the surprisingly competitive race.

-- Illinois: a $75,000 direct mailing in the state's 8th District, taking aim at Republican Rep. Joe Walsh. The Tea Party-backed incumbent is in a re-election bid against Tammy Duckworth.

VoteVets has $1.08 million worth of independent expenditures this cycle.
