House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is heaping criticism on House Speaker John Boehner for defending the Defense of Marriage Act in court, racking up $1.5 million in taxpayer-funded legal fees, according to a House report.

The House Committee on Administration reported that the legal fees accrued over the past 15 months, according to Pelosi. This is not the first time Pelosi has criticized Boehner about the fees.

"For more than a year, Speaker Boehner and Congressional Republicans have committed valuable taxpayer dollars to defending discrimination and preserving inequality - only to lose case after case in their effort to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act," Pelosi said in a statement.

The House Administration Committee has not yet responded to a request for comment. A spokesman from Boehner's office deferred to attorney Paul Clement, who has not immediately returned a request seeking comment.
