Outside Money Pouring Into Va. Senate Race

Virginia Senate candidates and former Govs. Tim Kaine, the Democrat, and George Allen, the Republican, will square off in the final debate of the campaign on Thursday at Virginia Tech.

Outside money has been pouring into the contest.

Last week, the Campaign Finance Institute said more outside funds had been spent in the Virginia Senate race than any other contest in the country ($4.3 million).

The latest spot, courtesy of Crossroads GPS, accuses Kaine of being a "lover" of taxes. Kaine has countered with an attack on Allen's fiscal record. The ad closes with an image of Allen in a bolo tie and a cowboy hat.
