More Binders on the House Floor

Rep. Carolyn Maloney has binders full of bills, and she's not afraid to wave them around.

The New York Democrat harped on the meme that just won't quit during today's pro forma session in the House. As Speaker Pro Tempore Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, R-Ga., was gaveling out the brief session, Maloney held up a white and neon-green binder in each hand, while yelling, "I have binders here that are filled, filled with unfinished business" and legislation that is "crucial to the needs of women in our country."

But for real, what's in those binders? Later, Maloney cracked them open and let the Alley take a gander, and indeed, inside were proposed House bills relating to immigration, equal employment and the Violence Against Women Act. Points for keeping the props authentic.

Democrats have been using the brief pro forma sessions to push the "do-nothing-Congress" message.

Maloney told the Alley she arrived this morning and will be heading back to New York tonight.
