Fitzpatrick Fighting to Hold His Seat in Suburban Philly

Republican Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick is trying to keep his suburban Philadelphia seat against Democratic attorney Kathy Boockvar in a hard-fought race. I took a trip to the 8th District to get a closer look and report on it in today's National Journal Daily

Here's the upshot.
But, just two weeks from Election Day, there are signs the race is shifting in the GOP's favor. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has pulled nearly $600,000 in planned television ads, according to reports. A Democratic consultant who declined to be named said Boockvar has a climb to unseat Fitzpatrick. The Cook Political Report rates the seat "Lean Republican."
The Boockvar campaign and the state Democratic Party, though, wax optimistic. James Hallinan, a spokesman for the state Democratic Party, said Boockvar is "connecting with Bucks County and Montgomery County voters." And Boockvar spokesman Andrew Grubin points to a solid quarter of fundraising on the challenger's part. "We had a phenomenal third quarter. Our fundraising exceeded half a million dollars, more than any other Democrat in a Pennsylvania congressional race, including incumbents," he said.
