Dems Senate Campaigns Raise Big, Spend Big

Senate candidates, especially Democrats, raised boatloads of cash in the third quarter. And in many cases, they are spending huge amounts, too.

Elizabeth Warren
is using the $12 million she raised in the last three months to wage a remarkably expensive Senate campaign in Massachusetts.

In Ohio, Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican challenger Josh Mandel raised big and spent more. Brown brought in $5.4 million and spent nearly $7 million, outpacing Mandel, who raised $4.5 million and spent about $5 million.

Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., who wowed campaign watchers by raising $5.8 million over three months, spent $1 million more to amass an almost 15 point lead in her reelection bid against GOP Rep. Todd Akin, according to an internal poll
