Casey and Smith to Debate in Pa. Senate Race

Well, it turns out that the Pennsylvania Senate race will have a debate after all.

The debate between Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican challenger Tom Smith will air from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 28 on Philadelphia's 6ABC.

Veteran Philly newsman Jim Gardner will moderate the debate between the Keystone State's junior senator and Smith with Action News' Monica Malpass and Vernon Odom as panelists, the Casey campaign announced today.

The news comes just after a Philadelphia Inquirer poll showed the contest narrowing, though Casey still has a double-digit lead. Internal Smith campaign polling released on Thursday had the candidates statistically tied.

Given how close the debate is to Election Day, this is likely to be the only one, Casey campaign manager Larry Smar told the Alley.
