Reid to Paul: I Got Your Filibuster Right Here

Hey Rand Paul, you wanna filibuster a veterans bill with bipartisan support? That's cool, I'll just hold the vote when the filibuster expires -- at 1:00 in the morning. How you like them apples?

That was essentially Senate Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid's message to the Kentucky Republican, who is making a run at Tom Coburn's title of Dr. No.

What Reid really said on Wednesday was: "We are going to vote on Friday, but it is not going to be at a time convenient to everybody. We are going to come in shortly after midnight tomorrow night, and we are going to vote on this."

Translation:"Sure, Rand, you can filibuster this bill and force everybody to miss their Thursday night flights and vote in the middle of the night. If that's how you wanna play it."

For his part, Paul is holding up floor action until his bill to ban foreign aid to Pakistan gets a vote.

The Alley's money is on a delayed vote, but not one that's as late as 1 a.m.
