Job Moves: Lieberman's CD Leaves, PCI Hires New VP

Sen. Joe Lieberman's communications director Marshall Wittmann left the Connecticut Independent's office last week.

Wittmann, who has bounced across the political aisle, joined Lieberman's office in 2006. Prior to that, he was a senior fellow at the Democratic Leadership Council, and from 2002 to 2004, he served as Sen. John McCain's communications director. In the 1990s, he worked as a legislative director for the Heritage Foundation and the Christian Coalition.

Whitney Phillips, Lieberman's press secretary for more than a year, is the new communications director. Phillips has been on the Hill for five years, and also worked for former Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, a Blue Dog Democrat from South Dakota.

--And Nat Wienecke will be joining Property Casualty Insurers Association of America as the group's new senior vice president of federal government relations. Wienecke, who will start at his new post in November, comes from JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he was vice president of global government relations. He also spent eight years at the Commerce Department.
