House GOP Battle Cry: Remember the 'Pledge'

John Boehner at A Pledge to America press conference on September 23, 2010.(Chet Susslin)

As Congress this week moves to shut down its Washington work schedule until after the election, House Republican leaders are encouraging rank-and-file members to play up this Sunday's two-year anniversary of the unveiling of their "Pledge to America."

The general theme will be that they are finishing the session the way they started: focused on jobs and the economy. There also likely will be no shortage of GOP blame leveled at Democrats for the failure so far to achieve two of the biggest promises in that sweeping conservative agenda that was unveiled on Sept. 24, 2010 - repeal of President Obama's health care law and a permanent extension of all of the George W. Bush-era tax cuts.
