Primary Night Recap: A Good Night for Dems

Our colleagues over at Hotline On Call have the latest results from Tuesday's round of primaries--which turned out to be a good night for Democrats. And now for a few highlights.

In Missouri, Rep. Todd Akin, whom state GOP officials saw as the weakest of the three candidates to go against Sen. Claire McCaskill, beat self-funded businessman John Brunner and former state Treasurer Sarah Steelman.

Two Democratic incumbents went down: Rep. Gary Peters of Michigan defeated Rep. Hansen Clarke. In Missouri, Democratic Rep. William Lacy Clay beat Rep. Russ Carnahan.

Tea party candidate Kerry Bentivolio won the Republican primary in Michigan's 11th District, former Rep. Thaddeus McCotter's district.
