News Roundup: CEO Pay, MEK Designation

Up and at them, Alley readers. Here's what we're perusing this fine, August morning:

Know who's making bank? CEOs. A study released by the Institute for Policy Studies found that 26 large American companies paid more to their company heads than they paid in taxes. The Associated Press has more on the study.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is preparing to make a decision on whether to re-designate Iranian opposition group Mujahedeen Khalq, or MEK, as a terrorist group, The New York Times reports. MEK has some powerful American supporters, including several prominent politicians.

And existing gift tax statutes can be applied to contributions made to groups that are offshoots of super PACs, which are spending major amounts to influence elections, Roll Call reports.
