Chris Frates On Power, People And Influence From Capitol Hill To K Street

It's Official: No House Votes Friday

Get ready for vaca, ya'll, because tomorrow is the last day the House is in session.

The House calendar initially had votes scheduled on Friday, but that's been changed. There will be no votes on Friday, with Thursday as the last day in session.

House Speaker John Boehner and other top Republicans said today that they're willing to cut the August recess short if the Senate doesn't act on the defense sequester and the possible expiration of the Bush-era tax cuts. But, as my colleague Billy House noted earlier today, threatening to come back to work during the recess is a less-than-genuine kickoff to summer's political messaging wars.
