In Which Todd Akin Rips Reince Priebus

Rep. Todd Akin has apparently given up on the prospect of getting any money from the Republican Party in his race to be Missouri's next U.S. senator.

Our colleagues at Hotline On Call have the scoop: Essentially, Akin ripped Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. See for yourself:

Rep. Todd Akin's campaign on Tuesday ripped Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, escalating Akin's feud with national Republicans just as the party kicks off their convention in Tampa.

Akin's statement responds to a Priebus comment Monday that the national party "is not gonna send" Akin "a penny" even if polls show the race is tied.

"Reince Priebus' comments are extremely disappointing," Akin's son and campaign manager Perry Akin said in a statement released by the campaign. "He claims the mantle of freedom, liberty and the good of America, but this betrays his apparent personal vendetta against Todd Akin. He is putting party power and political games ahead of the good of the country."
