CWA Blasts Verizon Deal

Verizon Wireless has made moves to strike a deal with large cable companies, and unions are none too happy about it.

An ad criticizing the deal as creating a monopoly and stunting job growth will start airing today, paid for by the Communications Workers of America

The Federal Communications Commission and the Justice Department are currently reviewing the deal, in which Verizon would buy spectrum from companies such as Comcast and Time Warner Cable

The CWA ad buy is a major one for the union, although a CWA spokeswoman declined to disclose how much. The ads will air on cable and broadcast television in D.C., and on cable TV in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Richmond, Va. Check the ad after the jump.
