New Hires: Russell Group, Commodity Markets Council

Fitz Elder, a former clerk on a Senate Appropriations subcommittee, is joining the Russell Group, the firm announced on Wednesday.

Elder served as the majority and minority clerk of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Industries from 2006 to 2011. He also worked as legislative assistant for former Utah Republican Sen. Robert F. Bennett.

Most recently, he's been on the staff of the National Rural Water Association.

Elder will maintain his association with the NRWA after he joins the Russell Group in the fall.

Also on Wednesday, the Commodity Markets Council announced it will promote Sanjeev Joshipura to president of the organization, succeeding Christine Cochran.

Joshipura, most recently the council's senior VP for government relations and policy, also served as a staff member for the House Budget Committee and the Joint Economic Committee.
