McCain, Boxer, Snowe Get NBC's 'Parks and Rec' Cameos

OK, we may be a little biased over here on the Alley, but we're kiiiind of jealous that three senators will get guest spots on an upcoming episode of NBC's Parks and Recreation. Come on, don't they want reporter cameos, too?

Sens. John McCain, Olympia Snowe and Barbara Boxer will get to play themselves during an episode in which Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) gets invited to a cocktail party attended by political big shots, including the senators, according to an NBC release.

The episode will air Sept. 27, and follows a storyline that takes small-town Indiana government worker (and newly elected councilwoman) Knope to D.C. as her boyfriend, Ben, takes a Hill job. The series is filming in D.C. this week.

So, will Knope form a kinship with Snowe and Boxer, finding coming ground in being women in the tough world of politics? Will she have a policy debate with McCain? Can Ron Swanson please show up and talk his views on libertarianism and bacon? Or maybe Knope will offer some campaign tips of her own. Check out a clip from the series, showing her campaign commercial:
